If you say 'gullible' slowly, it sounds like 'oranges'...

As a small child I was a rather rambunctious, not a problem child, just full of energy and very active. My brother and I were obsessed with the movie "Home Alone" we would spend hours trying to simulate the 'traps'.

One particular solo attempt was me tying one end of a string of wool to the curtain rail and the other to the bottom of the welsh dresser, standing on a chair armed with a coat hanger I prepared for my descent.
At that minute my uncle walked into the room with a puzzled look "does your Dad let you do that?" He quizzed. "....yes" I hurriedly replied. So he, shrugged and WALKED AWAY! I couldn't belive my luck, fortunately I realised the tautness of the wool wouldn't hold my weight and I abandoned the project.
As pleased as I was at the time I can't help but shake my head in disbelief now when I think back.
So I put the question to you :

What crazy things did you get away with as a kid?

  1. Came here via http://itsagaylife-jamiessmiles.blogspot.com Saw the title and had a laugh.

Had to see what it was about. Your uncle sounds like he could use some remedial adult in the room training. LOL. Too funny.

  3. I used to dream about making things like that work :D we used to make bows and arrows out of bamboo and shot at each other :O and I remember killing beckys tadpoles because I thought the sink we used as a pond was a bit fry. Of course using a oe pipe was a bit much on a 50 cm pond lol

  4. Me and my brother had a thing for wrestling when we were younger and we had a giant stuffed Winnie the Pooh teddy, we used to jump off the top of bunk beds on to it, thankfully no limbs were broken. The worst comment I think you can see on T.v is don't try this at home, automatically my brain missed out the word don't!

  6. Ha! Can't believe your uncle just walked away like that!

Unfortunately, I don't have any funny stories to add. I was that lame kid who was always too afraid of getting hurt to do anything fun. lol :)

Although, I did use my mom's favorite lipstick once to "paint" the bathroom. ;)
